  Structure of Gachibowli Stadium

The best part of the stadium’s structure is the cantilevered roof surrounding the viewer’s stands.

The uncomplicated yet creative structural design permits a 25 m (82 ft) span cantilever permitting the viewers an unobstructed view of the sporting tournaments.

Diagonal golden steel structural members serve as tension members to suspend the forces of the cantilevered roof of the viewer stands.

These components not only provide the exterior appearance but even assist in the creation of a well-defined ambulatory way along the stadium. Orange-coloured corrugated metal sheets cover the inner and outer edges of the roof trusses.

This cheap cladding improves the appearance of the arena considerably. It is an ultra-modern arena with a line contest synthetic athletic path and a 4-lane synthetic practice path. It employs the most delinquent high-mast lighting for day-night occasions and delivers obstruction-free viewing for all viewers.

The arena was called in memory of G. M. C. Balayogi, an incumbent Speaker of Lok Sabha who died in an air crash accident. The 2003 Afro-Asian Games were carried in this arena. About 30,000 people arrived to see the opening ceremony in the stadium.

The opening ceremony was almost two hours and forty minutes lengthy with a laser show son-et-lumiere. Nearly 2,800 Kuchipudi artists acted in a centuries-old dance on 26 December 2010 to make an establishment in the Guinness World Records.
