IPL 2022 Lucknow and Ahmedabad Teams
Ahmedabad and Lucknow will be the two new teams in the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League in 2022. Bids were made for two new teams in Sambar Dubai.
From the two new teams, the IPL is expected to earn more than 12,715 crore rupees, which is much more than expected.
The Sanjib Goenka Group (RPSG) bid Rs 7,900 crore (Rs 11,344 crore) for the Lucknow team. Goenka Group had earlier bought the Rising Pune Super Giants team. Similarly, CVC Group, a company from outside India, bid for Rs 5,600 crore (Rs 9,000 crore) for Ahmedabad.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had expected bids from the two new teams to be between Rs 7 crore and Rs 10,000 crore (Rs 11,000 crore to Rs 16,000 crore). But the revenue is expected to be more than 12,715 crore Bharu (20,344 crore Nepali rupees). The Sanjib Goenka Group has surprised everyone by making so many bids for Lucknow.
There were six cities in the IPL team’s race which included Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Cuttack, Dharamsala, Guwahati, and Indore. The one who would bid the most was given the freedom to choose his city and team.
Manchester United owner Glazer Family, Navin Jindal, Adani Group, Kotak Group, CVC Partner, Group M, Ranbir Singh, and Deepika Padukone were in the race to buy two new teams for the IPL. In the end, Goenka Group and CVC Group won the bet.
It is not the first time that 10 teams are participating in the IPL. Earlier, in 2011, there were 10 participants. At that time Pune Warriors and Kochi Tuskers were included. Kochi was removed a season after the controversy. After 2014, 8 teams have started playing in IPL again.
