Karachi First win in PSL 2021
The sixth edition of the Pakistan Super League has started on Saturday in Karachi, Pakistan.
Karachi Kings, captained by Imad Wasim, easily defeated Quetta Gladiators, captained by Sarfaraz Ahmed, by seven wickets in the inaugural match of the league on Saturday night.
In the match played at the National Stadium, Quetta completed the target of 122 runs set by Karachi in 13.5 overs with 3 wickets in hand. For Karachi, England batsman Joe Clarke top-scored with 46 runs off 23 balls with six fours and three sixes. Mohammad Nabi scored an unbeaten 30 off 14 balls and Babar Azam scored 24 off 20 balls. Quetta bowler Mohammad Hasnain took two wickets and Usman Shinwari one.
Earlier, batting after losing the toss, Quetta lost all their wickets in 18.2 overs and scored 121 runs. Chris Gayle top-scored with 39 runs off 24 balls with four fours and two sixes. Apart from Azam Khan (17), Cass Ahmed (16) and Ben Cutting (11), no other batsmen were able to score double figures.
In Karachi’s bowling, pacer Arshad Iqbal took the most 3 wickets in which he scored 16 runs in 4 overs with 1 maiden over. Waqas Maqsood took two wickets and Imad Wasim, Mohammad Amir, Amir Yamin and Daniel Christian took one wicket each.
There will be two games under the league on Sunday. Lahore Calendars and Peshawar Jalmi will compete at 2:45 pm Nepali time and Islamabad United and Multan Sultan will compete at 7:45 pm.
Six teams including Karachi Kings, Islamabad United, Multan Sultans, Lahore Calendars, Peshawar Jalmi and Quetta Gladiators are participating in the league.
